Herpes simplex (from the Greek ἕρπης /΄erpis/, "snake") is a viral disease caused by herpes simplex viruses; both herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-
1) and herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2) cause herpes simplex. Infection with the herpes virus is categorized into one of several distinct disorders
based on the site of infection. Oral herpes, the visible symptoms of which are colloquially called cold sores, infects the face and mouth. Oral
herpes is the most common form of infection. Genital herpes, commonly known simply as herpes, is the second most common form of herpes.
Other disorders such as herpetic wetlow, herpes gladiatorum, ocular herpes, cerebral herpes infection encephalitis, Mollaret's meningitis,
neonatal herpes, and possibly Bell's palsy are all caused by herpes simplex viruses.
Herpes viruses cycle between periods of active disease-presenting as blisters containing infectious virus particles-that last 2-21 days, followed by
a remission period, during which the sores disappear. Genital herpes, however, is often asymptomatic though viral shedding may still occur. After
initial infection, the viruses move to sensory nerves where they reside as life-long, latent viruses. Causes of recurrence are uncertain, though
some potential triggers have been identified. Over time, episodes of active disease reduce in frequency and severity.
Herpes simplex is most easily transmitted by direct contact with a lesion or the body fluid of an infected individual. Transmission may also occur
through skin-to-skin contact during periods of asymptomatic shedding. Barrier protection methods are the most reliable method of preventing
transmission of herpes, but they merely reduce rather than eliminate risk. Oral herpes is easily diagnosed if the patient presents with visible
sores or ulcers. Early stages of orofacial herpes and genital herpes are harder to diagnose; laboratory testing is usually required. 20% of the U.S.
population has antibodies to HSV-2, although not all of them have a history of genital lesions. Prevalence of HSV infections varies throughout the
world. Poor hygiene, overcrowding, lower socioeconomic status, and birth in an undeveloped country have been identified as risk factors
associated with increased HSV-1 childhood infection.
There is no cure for herpes. Once infected, the virus remains in the body for life. However, after several years, some people will become
perpetually asymptomatic and will no longer experience outbreaks, though they may still be contagious to others. Vaccines are in clinical trials
but have not demonstrated effectiveness. Treatments can reduce viral reproduction and shedding, prevent the virus from entering the skin, and
alleviate the severity of symptomatic episodes.
Herpes simplex should not be confused with conditions caused by other viruses in the herpesviridae family such as herpes zoster which is a viral
disease caused by varicella zoster virus.
"Herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 (HSV-1 and HSV-2) are two species of the herpes virus family, Herpesviridae, which cause infections in humans.
Eight members of herpesviridae infect humans to cause a variety of illnesses including cold sores, chickenpox or varicella, shingles or herpes
zoster (VZV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), and various cancers, and can cause brain inflammation (encephalitis). All viruses in the herpes family
produce life-long infections.
They are also called Human Herpes Virus 1 and 2 (HHV-1 and HHV-2) and are neurotropic and neuroinvasive viruses; they enter and hide in the
human nervous system, accounting for their durability in the human body. HSV-1 is commonly associated with herpes outbreaks of the face
known as cold sores or fever blisters, whereas HSV-2 is more often associated with genital herpes." (Wikipedia)

Overview of Oral Herpes

Oral herpes is an infection caused by the virus herpes simplex-1. It can cause painful sores on a persons lips, gums, tongue, roof of their mouth,
and on the inside their cheeks. It can also cause fever and muscle aches.

•  The herpes simplex virus is only a threat to humans. Mouth sores are one of the symptoms of herpes that occur mainly in children aged 1-2
years, but they can affect people of any age.
•  People can become easily infected with herpes-1 or herpes-2 simply by touching infected saliva, mucous membranes, or skin. Because the
virus is so contagious, most people have been infected by at least one herpes subtype before adulthood.
•  After the herpes virus infects someone, it has the unique ability to proceed to 3 stages.
1. Primary infection: The virus enters it's victims skin or mucous membrane and reproduces. During this stage oral sores and other
symptoms, such as fever, may develop.
•  The virus may not cause any sores or other symptoms. They may not know they have it. This is called asymptomatic infection.
•  Asymptomatic infections occur twice as frequently as does herpes with symptoms.
2. Latency: From the infected site, the virus moves to a mass of nervous tissue within the spine named the dorsal root ganglion. From there
the virus reproduces again and lives there when it's inactive.
3. Recurrence: When an individual with herpes encounters certain stresses, emotional or physical, it may induce the virus to reactivate
which produces new sores and symptoms.

Causes of Oral Herpes

•  Herpes simplex is a DNA virus that causes all herpes related eruptions. Two herpes subtypes may cause these sores.
•  Herpes simplex-1 or herpes-1, causes 80% of all cases of oral herpes infections
•  Herpes simplex-2 or herpes-2, causes the rest

Overview of Genital Herpes

Genital herpes is a common, highly infectious virally induced disease. It is transmitted from one person to another during sex. Genital herpes
causes blisters or groups of small ulcers on and around the genital area of both men and women. There is no recognized herpes cure, and
conventional methods only attempt to keep it under control.
•  Genital herpes is considered to be epidemic in proportions, primarily due to it's highly contagious nature. Persons who carry herpes can
transmit it without having any observable symptoms of active infection.
•  As many as 50 million Americans are infected with the genital herpes virus, with about one million new cases appearing annually. As many
as 80%-90% of those infected fail to notice any herpes symptoms or never manifest any.
•  The highest infection rates are seen among the poor, the under educated, cocaine users, and those with multiple sexual partners.

Causes of Genital Herpes

Genital herpes is caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). There are two types known as herpes-1 and herpes-2. Most genital herpes
infections are caused by HSV-2. HSV-1 is the usual cause of what most people are familiar with as “fever blisters”. Located in and around the
mouth, they can be shared from person to person through kissing. Less often, herpes-1 can cause genital herpes infections through oral sexual
contact. The genital sores caused by either virus look the same.
•  Genital herpes is spread by direct contact with an infected person. Sexual intercourse and oral sex are the most common methods of
spreading genital herpes. However, any type of skin-to-skin contact, can easily spread herpes.
•  Important: People with herpes may spread the disease even if they do not realize they have an infection. Also, there is strong evidence that
people with herpes can transmit infection even while their disease appears to be inactive and no sores can be seen.
•  Some people remember having an episode of genital herpes when it occurs, but as many as 90% of those infected fail to recognize the
symptoms of herpes, or have no symptoms at all. It is not clear whether these people never had an initial herpes outbreak or whether they just
didn't notice due to the mild nature of the infection. However they are contagious all the same, and are fully capable of having additional
outbreaks.

Symptoms of herpes tend to develop within 3-7 days of skin-to-skin contact with a herpes carrier. Herpes infections look like small blisters or
ulcers on the genitals. Each blister or ulcer is usually only 1-3 millimeters in size, and the blisters or ulcers are generally grouped into "crops."
The blisters usually form first, then quickly open to form ulcers. Herpes infections may be painless to slightly tender. However, in some people,
the blisters or ulcers can be very tender and/or painful.

Where Genital Herpes Is Located

•  In men, herpes sores usually appear on or around the penis.
•  In women with vaginal herpes, the lesions may be visible outside the vagina, but they commonly occur inside the vagina where they can
cause discomfort or vaginal discharge, but cannot be seen except during a doctor's examination.
•  The ulcers or blisters may also be found anywhere around the genitals and in and around the anus.

Beginning Outbreak Symptoms of Genital Herpes

The original herpes outbreak is usually the most painful, and the initial episode may last longer than later outbreaks. Some people develop other
signs of herpes infection, particularly during the first episode such as:
•  Fever
•  Headaches
•  Muscle aches
•  Vaginal discharge or painful urination
•  Swollen and tender lymph glands in the groin area

Return Genital Herpes Outbreaks

•  Usually when herpes returns, susequent outbreaks generally have much less severe symptoms. Generally people with recurrent symptoms
of herpes develop a painful or a tingling sensation in the area of the infection, even before any blisters or ulcers can be seen. This is due to
irritation and inflammation of the nerves surrounding the infected area of skin.
•  These are signs that an outbreak is about to start. This is the most contagious period, even though the skin still appears normal.

WARNING! ANY AND ALL ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS HAVE BEEN CONVINCINGLY CONNECTED TO HERPES OUTBREAKS.

One of the most important recommendations I could make to anyone with the herpes virus no matter which kind, is to totally avoid diet products
containing artificial sweeteners. These sweeteners are documented to have triggered herpes outbreaks in some people (oral or genital) within as
little as ten minutes!

Natural Methods To Cure Herpes

There are so many excellent natural herpes treatments. It has been declared to be an incurable disease, but I have seen several testimonials
from persons that claim otherwise. One of the elemental miracle's specialties is viruses, and many people have been cured from viruses declared
to be incurable such as HIV, hepatitis C, and yes, herpes, by taking the elemental miracle. It only seems logical it would eventually destroy it,
but it is reported to take longer than some diseases because it is generally so deeply entrenched. It goes without saying that maintaining an
alkaline system should eventually destroy herpes, as it does every other disease caused by an acidic presence.

The Elemental Miracle: has been reported to completely eliminate both types of herpes by killing the virus itself. It has to be taken in maximum
dosage twice a day for two weeks however, due to the stubborn nature of the disease. Mixing it with DMSO and rubbing it on the spine, in
addition to placing it externally on any cold sores, does speed the process of enacting a complete herpes cure.

Oil of Oregano: has been glorified as another option for completely killing the herpes virus. It is claimed that by daily rubbing the oil vigorously
over the spinal column along with taking five drops under the tongue twice a day, will completely destroy the virus. There are people who have
claimed to be freed of genital herpes in less than a month by this method. Seeing as the herpes virus does live in the spine when dormant, and oil
of oregano is an amazing anti-viral, this herpes treatment does make a lot of sense. Also using oil of oregano mixed with DMSO on cold sores, is
reported to be very effective.

Bitter Melon: is reported to work wonders for subduing cold sore out breaks. It's claimed if you take a couple of capsules as soon as you feel
the beginning tinge of an outbreak, it will never manifest. People who take bitter melon on a regular basis claim to never have outbreaks except
when they forget to take it.

Acidophilus: The same as with bitter melon it's claimed if you take a few capsules of acidophilus at the onset of an outbreak, it will never
happen. It can be taken daily for constant protection as well.

L-Lysine: is favored herpes treatment by many of it's sufferers, who say to take one to two thousand milligrams four times a day.

Saw Palmetto: at the rate of 450 mg. a day is said to be an excellent way to cure herpes.

Echinacea: is claimed to be an effective herb to cure herpes.

Elderberry Extract: is applauded as an excellent means of warding off herpes outbreaks. Take it at the first tingling sensation and continue to do
so four times a day for up to three days after any lingering signs.

Olive Leaf Extract: and fresh olive leaves anti-viral properties are very effective against the herpes virus. If available both can be used for an
excellent herpes treatment.

Garlic: Take massive quantities of the odorless garlic softgels. I have heard of good results by taking a dozen or so of the softgels at the first
sign of a tingling, and then three capsules every four hours for the next several days.

Aspirin: Taking aspirin twice a day along with strong black coffee is helpful for herpes.

Holly/Walnut Flower Essence: is said to be a very potent combination to cure herpes.

Apple Cider Vinegar: is said to be a wonderful topical solution for cold sores. Dab it on straight with a Q-tip at the first sign of an eruption and
continue to do so at regular intervals until it's gone.

Acetone: Dab a Q-tip with acetone on any herpes simplex-1 or herpes-2 related cold sore several times a day, and keep the area dry with
cornstarch for a very effective herpes treatment.

Alcohol: the old cold sore standby has a solid reputation for good reason. Vodka works just as well, if not better, than ordinary rubbing alcohol.
Use it directly and often until the sore is gone.

Aspirin, St Johns Wort, Tea Tree Oil: The following is said to work on contact. Remove the top skin from the cold sore/herpes simplex. Put
ground aspirin mixed with 2 drops of tea tree oil (organic) and 2 drops of St. John's Wort liquid form (organic) on it. If it's too painful you can numb
it with Ambersol. This method kills the virus on contact. It will form a scab immediately and it stops the oozing, itching, and swelling.

Tea Tree Oil: all by itself is said to be a very dependable cold sore remedy.

Eucalyptus Oil: can be used the same as tea tree oil for basically the same results.

DMSO Gel: is very appreciated by cold sore sufferers. Put it on your lip as soon as you feel the tingling and it will keep the cold sore from
appearing.

Honey: is reported to be very dependable for healing cold sores, and heals them in as little as twenty four hours! Just dab on a little honey
(unpasteurized) at the first sign of a cold sore, and continue to do so at least 3 to 4 times a day. It will stop the pain and itching instantly.
Salt: applied directly to the cold sore and kept there as long as it burns, or as long as you can stand it, twice a day and before bed, will help a
cold sore heal much faster.

Alum: is said to be an amazing $1.50 cure for cold sores. It dries out cold sores practically overnight! Just put it on every two or three hours until
it's gone!

Colloidal Silver: used externally works very well. Also of course taken internally it has powerful anti-viral properties as well.

Earwax: I know it sounds gross, but if your stuck off somewhere and can manage to dig out some earwax, put it on your cold sore for immediate
protection and relief.

Epsom Salts Bath: Soak in a hot epsom salt bath at the first sign of a herpes outbreak. Excellent aid for healing vaginal herpes.

Herpes Diet

Although no doubt there are some amazing natural cold sore remedies, in my mind never risking an outbreak would be the ideal position to stay
in. Actually burning the virus out of your body forever would be the ultimate achievement, and the elemental miracle in my opinion, offers the most
dependable option for that possibility, accomplishing it in the shortest amount of time. A few of the other remedies mentioned such as oil of
oregano, or perhaps olive leaf extract, are also capable of performing this supposedly impossible feat.
Still diet is always crucial to naturally healing all diseases especially when it comes to something so ingrained, such as the herpes virus. Of
course building up the immune system is considered critical, as is alkalizing the body. One sure way to raise your alkalinity is to take a ¼ tsp. of
baking soda in a half a glass of water twice a day on an empty stomach.
Another method is to drink an 1/8 tsp. of pure borax (twenty mule team qualifies) in a liter of water everyday (5 days on; 2 days off). You could do
both if your especially acidic. Also take 1 to 2 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar three times a day. It not only works wonders for raising pH, but is a
favored treatment for herpes all by itself. As mentioned earlier it's highly effective for external use on cold sores as well.
As far as diet is concerned, avoiding certain items is probably more important than any you might include. At the top of the exclusion list would
be any and all artificial sweeteners. Next would be nuts (especially peanuts) with the possible exception of almonds. Sugar is also a major
culprit, and anything containing sugar must definitely be avoided, as should chocolate.
Avoid all fried foods, and particularly anything cooked with hydrogenated oils, which all contain trans fatty acids. This includes margarine. Also
alcoholic drinks should be avoided, and anything else that puts stress on the liver, such as smoking cigarettes.
Eating just raw fresh vegetables with uncooked and unsweetened salad dressing, such as olive oil and lemon would be ideal. Red marine algae is
said to be excellent for herpes. It would also alleviate any sugar cravings you might have. Take zinc supplements, especially zinc acetate and/or
zinc gluconate, as these zinc compounds are strongly antiviral. As with any disease, raw food diets end them in short order. There is a world of
help on-line in regard to adopting the “raw” lifestyle. The following address has some good information if you like.

I wish you all success in your effort to become free from this very annoying disease. I truly believe it can be totally eliminated if you strive by
proper means, and stay with it. The elemental miracle specializes in this type of disorder (viruses) but you'll need to be patient. Ultimately the
length of time it takes to completely cure herpes, is not as important an issue as being immediately and permanently free from the possibility of
any future outbreaks. In an emergency situation such as a herpes pregnancy, be very vigilant and an all but immediate herpes cure is possible.
Remember, the standard recommended elemental miracle regimen will free you from not only the fear of herpes in all it's bothersome aspects,
but all disease. So do it!
